Grading Criteria
Grading Criteria lie at the heart of assessment and are a way of articulating and communicating the levels of attainment that are expected from both formative and summative assessments and mapping them to particular grade bands.
The University is committed to promoting excellence in assessment and feedback. Specifically, UPR AS13 states that:
- Every programme must publish the grading criteria in the programme handbook
- Grading criteria must relate to the University’s Grade Descriptors and associated grades
- Relevant grading criteria should be available for all assessments that students will encounter on the programme
Guidance about producing grading criteria and examples of criteria in use can be found in our 'Guidance, Resources and Toolkits' section within the 'Assessment and Feedback' folder.
